English classes at University

Hello everyone! On this post I want to write about my experience having english classes at university.
I'm studying Archeology, I'm on my fifth semester and I've took two semester curses of english language. Even when english language is an useful tool for the students of every discipline, I have several critics about the way aof teaching and the contents of the english curses. The most important lack, I think, is the fact that we don't learn, or the University is not teaching us, technical language or concepts that we need to understand our own disciplines. Being honest, I feel that my school english classes were better than the english classes I'm having now, because I think here, at university, we're not learning the skills and concepts that we need, and the difficulty is even lower than school.
With all of this, I have to say the idea of having a blog and posting usually is a very good exercise of express toughts, feelings and opinions, and talking about my experience, writing a blog has helps me to improve my vocabulary a lot!
From this point, and related with I was saying before, I know I need to improve my technical english, because I have to understand several kind of scientific research, wich are all published in english. I'm going to buy a big dictionary and learn the concepts I need just by myself.
Outside my english class I use the lenguage for studying, but I hardly never speak english, and well... my pronunciation is something I need to improve as well, because pronunciation is just practice, again and again.

I think we all must know, at least, the basic things about english language, because it's very useful and, on theese days, necessary for university studies.

That's all for now.
Bye! :)

Changes to my study programme

Hello everybody!
Today I want to write about my university studies! I'm studying Archeology, on third grade, and I love it. Everything I've learned is very interesting, and there are a lot of things to learn in the future! I like what I'm studying, but it doesn't mean everything is perfect... Actually there are several problems, and I would like to change different kind of things, to make my career better.

If I could change some things, I would start with the curriculum. My study programme consist on four semesters common plan, and four semesters of specialization. The students can choose between Social Anthropology, Biological Antrhopology or Archeology.
The common plan is great for the people who wants study Social Anthropology, but for people like me who wants to study one of the other options, it's inadequiate, because curses are focused on Social Anthropology contents. If I could, I would change the common plan and I would like to include some contents about Biological Anthropology and Archeology.

I think the length of studies it's OK, but the workload it's another problem, but not as terrible as the curriculum. The workload it's very different between one curse and another, and that makes people use more time studying and working for one curse, setting aside the others, At the end we know more about one subject than other, and I think that is a problem.
How can I be a good professional if I know almost nothing about some subjects?

We have material problems too. A few years ago, university increased the number of students, even doubling it! At first sight this could be something great, because more people can study this career, but it complicates other study conditions. Being too many students is terrible, because we can´t fit in on the classroom, and worse, on the laboratories!!! The university must invest money for building new class spaces, to guarantee everybody's learning.

We don't need a lot of tecnology, but we do need good teachers. I'm on third grade, and until now, I've have good tearches in general. Archeology is an area that need a lot of practical work, and teachers must know what are they talking about and handle all the contents of the subjects.

Well, if you want to know something else about my studies, please write me!
See you! Bye :)

PS: No. We are NOT like Indiana Jones.

My plans for this winter holidays!!!!!

Hello people! I hope you're all great! At this part of the semester I'm really tired, and I can't stop thinking about next winter holidays. I need a break.
Well, actually I don't have plans yet, but I would like to go to Villarrica. I have visited Villarrica a lot of times in the past, but always on summer, and I would like to see how beautiful is this place on winter. If I get there this winter, I will visit the Villarrica National Park, because I want to trekking trought the forest.
I would like to travel with my boyfriend, because he's my partner and we share a lot of hobbies! Also, I have a friend whose family lives there (she used to live there too, but now she lives here in Santiago because she is studying here), and she travels all the time. We can stay at her house, and save money. She knows a lot of beautiful places to visit, and a lot of diferent activities to do there!  If everything works, we will have the best winter holidays ever!
I think we will spend just a weekend or a few days there, because Villarrica (and all the villages around the Villarica Lake) are too expensive for people who doesn't work (like students), but if we save enough money this month, we will get the possibility to go to Villarrica and relax. You should travel to Villarrica too someday, I recommend it!

Kiss! Bye :)

Books!

Hi everybody!
Today I want to write about reading books.
Actually, I don't usually read books just for enjoyment, because I have to read for university and I spend almost all my time on that, but it doesn't mean I do not read at all. When I was a child I use to read just the books I had to read for school, but sometimes I really enjoyed it!
I don't have any preference about books, it's simple: I like it or I don't like it. It just depends on the story, but I usually read fiction books... it's funnier.

I want to write about one of my favourites books: "Historia de una gaviota y del gato que le enseñó a volar", writen by Luis Sepúlveda. I read it on holidays, but I have read it a lot of times before! I love and I really enjoy reading this book.
The story is about a big, black and fat cat, who has a quiet cat life in a seaport village, eating fish and sleeping several hours at day. One day he finds a baby seagull, away from it's family, so the cat takes care of it. They become very close to each other, and the story is about how the cat teaches the seagull to fly.
This may sound a little simple, but it's a beautiful story of love and gratitude between two diferent animals.
I have to confess it... I cry every time I read it.

It is a beautiful story, and it's a short book, so you are not going to spend a lot of time if you want to read it someday. I recommend it!

Read me next week!
Bye!

My best holidays ever!!!!

Hello everyone! Today i'm going to write about my best holidays!

This summer i went to Riñinahue, a small rural village in Ranco Lake, in Los Lagos region. I went with my family (my mom, my dad, one of my half-sisters and her family, and with my aunt's family) and my beloved boyfriend. We were a very large group of people, and that's why my holidays were so funny.. We had a lot of things to do and a lot of people to spend time with! We spent 10 days at Riñinahue, but i think i could spend my whole life there.

We did a lot of different activities! I swam on the lake the most part of the day, because i love to swim. My boyfriend and i like bird-watching, so we saw and photographed many different kinds of birds and other animals too. With my half-sister we played poker every night, and we betted money and drunk wine jajaja. We had a little casino at the camping site. And the most important thing: i relaxed and rested, because it's a magical place.

I think it was my best holidays ever because i spent my days with the people i love the most, at a beautiful place.

I want to share with you a picture of this beautiful place, taken by my boyfriend.

Kisses.

Cuba

This is my first post, and i would like to write about a country that i dream to visit someday: Cuba.

Cuba is an island near of Unitade States. It's a popular touristic destination bucause it's paradisiacal beaches and beautiful landscapes.

I would like to travel to Cuba someday, but actually i'm not interested in the popular touristic places (like the beach). What i would like to visit are the historical places related to de Cuba Revolution at the end of the '50s. I have politic and historic interesting about this little piece of land in the ocean.

I would like to visit, in first place, the Plaza de la Revolución, in La Habana, and go through La Habana Vieja. After, i would like to visit de city of Santa Clara, south of La Habana, where is Che Guevara's grave. Also i would like to vitis Santiago de Cuba, but these three cities are far to each other, so i think i would have to be at Cuba for a month at least jiji.

Well, there are so many places i would like to visit, and i have a reason for everyone, but i don't want to you get bored reading my first post, so i can write more about Cuba next time!

See you all!
